Who Are We?

We'll be presenting some basic stats on the club membership at the March 14th meeting.  In case you miss it, see details here:  Membership Stats - "Who are we?"

First Ride Leader Workshop Held

Last evening the Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club conducted or first Ride Leader Workshop.  Dave Englert, Ride Leader Captain presented a coordinated set of guidelines for the first group of Ride Leader Candidates. The focus of the evening was safety, group riding skills and inclusion of all levels and kinds of cycling and enjoyment of the sport.  Plans for building a library of ride routes and communications with like minded riders were discussed.  The insurance  advantages of being USAT registered and the rules for keeping that coverage were reviewed. The candidate leaders will be asked to do some on-the-road leader activities and then be able to plan and post group rides.  The session was held at the Ridgefield Bicycle Company where everyone felt immersed in all things bicycle.  To everyone’s credit the bad weather did not significantly reduce the attendance from the planned number.

Another workshop will be held in March for those that missed this one or have not yet signed up.  Contact Dave at for more information and schedule.

Club membership is required.  You can register on-line here.

Kick-off Meeting A Great Success!

Tonight (1/18/12) the Ridgefield Bicycle Sports Club held its first general membership meeting at the Boys and Girls club in Ridgefield.  The estimated attendance was 140 very active people interested in cycling, triathlons, and other sports.  Jacqui Dowd presented an introduction to club, the goals and plans for some of the activities.  On line membership registrations plus the on-site registrations last night have so far reached 98.  The club has designed great looking jerseys, shorts and other clothing items.  Samples of the products were available for try-on at the meeting  and will be at the Ridgefield Bicycle Company for the next week before the initial order is placed.  Members can order this high quality custom clothing at special prices.

With the crush of new members, the roster will be updated and available soon.  The ride and event calendar will start to be filled in and the ride library will be populated as well.

If you have an idea for a ride, please contact

If you not yet registered you can do so on-line here.
